Trump May Be First President Charged with a Crime

A Manhattan grand jury will decide if evidence is sufficient to charge Trump and his associates with criminal indictments for bank, tax or insurance fraud. It will not be a surprise if Trump becomes the first former president to be charged with a crime. Trump has a long history of over 4,000 lawsuits as a defendant or plaintiff. Lawyer and author James D. Zirin wrote in Plaintiff In Chief that Trump “sued as a means of destroying or silencing those who crossed him.”

NEW YORK — Manhattan's district attorney has convened the grand jury that is expected to decide whether to indict former president Donald Trump, other executives at his company or the business itself should prosecutors present the panel with criminal charges, according to two people familiar with the development.
